Single track fun for Thanksgiving morning.
Today my roommate Marcel was nice enough to offer me a ride to my first cross race of the season. He was skeptical at first but seemed to really enjoy listening to hecklers// watching crashes// looking majestic on his phone in the woods.
I told myself I would take the season off to focus on school and side projects but I think racing does something great for my mental health. While shaking off the antsiness I was also reminded how much fun riding the cross check is.
The race itself went well and I felt great locking in a good spot right off of the start and working my way to fourth. I found myself at the front of the second lead group and my legs felt great pushing the pace. My luck ran out on the last lap as I dropped my chain going over the last set of barriers. Ultimately I was able to out sprint a handful of guys in the last stretch for 8th.
I was also lucky enough to see my friends Alex and Jorian get podium in the Cat 4.
Couldn’t ask for more out of my Saturday.
I am defined by seasons and sadness.
